This past July in BC, Sutton agent Ken Welte traded open houses for open skies, volunteering as part of the medical team supporting Operation Pegasus–a seven-day skydive training experience for Canadian Armed Forces veterans and active members. Hosted in partnership with Tactical Medical Service (TMS), the event was designed to help participants rebuild confidence, develop new skills, and reconnect with a sense of camaraderie after service.
The event is part of a broader initiative by the Operation Pegasus Foundation, which supports the mental and physical health of military personnel through adventure-based rehabilitation and skill-building programs. Their mission is to create lasting impact by helping veterans and active members transition successfully into civilian life with renewed purpose and community.
For Ken, who holds Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification, the opportunity was both a personal and professional commitment. He spent 12-hour days providing medical support for everything from mild dehydration and minor scrapes to more serious injuries like angulated fractures. “It was a demanding week,” he said, “but it was also incredibly rewarding to witness the strength, focus, and resilience of those who serve our country.”
Ken’s involvement with Tactical Medical Service began a year ago as a way to keep his skills current and contribute to causes close to his heart. With a background in search and rescue, he now assists at events like this one a dozen weekends a year, quietly helping to ensure the safety and well-being of participants behind the scenes.
That same mindset–grounded, calm, and ready for whatever the day brings–guides Ken’s work as a real estate professional. Whether on the ground at a training operation or navigating high-stakes negotiations, he brings a composed, client-first approach to everything he does.
